On April 21st, he was just a ball of soft feathers, screeching for his mama to keep him safe.

But now, June 5th, he’s Joe cool, looking all around and acting like he doesn’t even see me with my camera!

I was taking an early morning run to my favorite woods when I passed Cooter Pond in Inverness. It took my breath away. So……Yeah, I had to circle around and stand in the middle of a side street to shoot across 41, but it was worth it!
I pass these beauties every day on my way home from work. Their in a small pond right on 200 and the traffic is killer! but I made myself stop today and took my life in my hands to cross the road and get these photos. The last 3 are the same photo with different effects. Leave a comment and tell me which one you like best.

This beautiful mother tried to distract me when I found her fuzzy little one sitting high in a tree. Momma kept flying from tree to tree around me hoping to get my attention on her. I told my husband to watch my back, because I did not want an unhappy Mom to take my head off!

He was just so fuzzy and cute.

If you’re going to practice blurring water, then you have to have running water! Falling Waters Creek is great right now from those last big rains we had.
I think I’m finally getting the hang of it.

You’ll be driving down the road and catch a flash of blue, a little patch of beauty, and by the time you try to focus on it you have passed it. That is blue-eyed grass! The blooms are so small and delicate that it takes a whole patch of them to catch your eye.

Indian Paintbrush (castilleja indivisa) was smiling in the morning sun along the median on Hwy 19 south of Chiefland. All this beautiful rain we’ve been having has really pushed the flowers right out of the ground!

I’m starting a catalogue of Florida’s wildflowers and I think these two are a good start. Maybe a book someday?

I have been trying to get a shot of one of these for months! So…. I was on the way home from a hospital visit and saw this one out of the corner of my eye, whipped the van off the road (poor Beau is so used to this by now that he didn’t even flinch), made a u-turn and went back to find him. It took 5 u-turns but by golly I got him!!
